driftwood beach state park
5560 NW Pacific Coast Hwy, Seal Rock, OR 97376
Driftwood Beach is a 37 acre park that lies just south of Seal Rock. The land was acquired first by purchase of 7.70 acres in 1968 and then in 1986, by a gift of 29 acres from L. Presley Gill . Driftwood Beach State provides access to the ocean and picnic facilities scattered among the shore pine. This is a scenic beach that is not only good for shell hunting but also bird watching. From the trail head it is approximately 2 miles to the south end of Seal Rock beach. The area offers a wide, flat, sandy beach, and given the proximity to Seal Rock is often a good beach to hunt and find agates. The beach is amply named and the large amount of drift wood that washes up at high tide make it an excellent beach to build forts from driftwood with kids.
Also Driftwood Beach is notorious for having available beach to walk — even at high tide. A great place for beachcombing, storm watching and enjoying beautiful sunsets. The north end of Driftwood is a good place to watch the waives crash on the off-shore rocks extending from Seal Rock. You are allowed to fish from the shore with a State fishing license.
