Make yourself at home in our historic  dog –friendly cottage sits on Alsea Bay in Waldport, Oregon. Guests enjoy the quiet bay beach w/private access & raised/covered deck seating by the sea wall. Fish, clam. crab, relax or watch playful harbor seals as they fish or sunbathe on the sand bars at low tide. Explore 8 miles of sandy ocean beaches just short walk away. Fenced dog yard.

This historic waterfront cottage has just had a complete renovation and maintains the history and charm of its 101 years, while offering clean, modern amenities for guest comfort and safety. The main floor of the cottage is a great space for families, with a “great room” and open floor plan on the first floor. You can prepare meals while interacting with the family in front of the fire and hanging out in the living room. The kitchen has a dining room table and expansion leaves for a sit-down dinner or your kiddos can eat at the bar.

The bayside of the house boasts 5 huge picture windows so you can see the bay from any location on the main floor short of the laundry room. Off the kitchen there is a deck and an enclosed dog yard stroll down the stoned path through the gardens to the raised seating deck to watch the sunset over the bay and the pacific or observe wildlife in the bay. Additionally, guests can purchase firewood and utilize the full fire ring that sits near the sea wall, or just stroll on the beach.

The first floor also has a shared laundry room with locking door with the landlord as well as a powder room. All new beds, mattresses and bedding as well as towels for guests’ ultimate comfort. The south bedroom upstairs has an additional room/daybed which is perfect for small children that don’t want to be far from Mom and Dad. We are a dog friendly lodging host with towels to wipe off fido’s sandy feet, as well as a fully fenced dog yard. We do ask that dogs NOT be allowed on the furniture.

Parking is limited to 2 vehicles per lodging group. There is one space just to the right of the main entry door of the house, and one parallel space just in front of the garage. Overflow parking is available across Maple street in the large parking lot. Maple street is a narrow street with a lot of foot and bike traffic. Please drive slowly and watch for pedestrians. We suggest you thumb through the Guest Guide which is regularly updated and sits on the kitchen counter. This is a tell all book about the inner workings of the house, things to do in the area, shopping, and area restaurants as well as other fun facts.

Confirmed guests will receive check-in and house access instructions within 3 days of their stay. Additionally a full set of in-house instructions including wifi access, laundry and any other house use tips and guidelines will be printed and available in the guest guide that will be in the house.

GUEST ACCESS:
THE NEIGHBORHOOD:

Maple Street is one of the oldest and most historic neighborhoods in Waldport. There are just 12 houses on the bayside of the street, and most were built from 1920 to 1940. We have wonderful neighbors, and we ask that our guests be “good neighbors’ and keep noise and neighborhood disruption to a minimum. Shopping, coffee, and restaurants are all within walking distance of the cottage. We encourage you to visit the Alsea Bay Interpretive Center at the north end of Maple Street for area history and information.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE:

The owner/lodging host lives in a separate but attached unit and shares the laundry room with guests.  She will be onsite to welcome guests and be available to resolve any issues that arise and answer guest questions.
