Curtis Street Beach/Seal Rock North though not an official park, is public access to the beach just north of Seal Rock State Recreational Area. The Curtis Street Beach Parking lot is a well maintained dirt/sand lot located just of Hwy 101 at Mile Post 152, and directly across from Curtis Street on the east side of the highway.
From the parking lot it’s a short 50 yards to the beach, and walking south will give you a different perspective, of the rock formations at Seal Rock. It’s a nice quiet beach without many people and a photographer’s paradise with ample rock formations, waves and wildlife to photograph. This small beach is also an oasis for agates, and rarely agate-hunters come home empty handed.
Low tide not only reveals tide pools, but the unique rock formations on the beach. Much of the beach floor is slab volcanic rock with interesting shapes and formations. Storm watchers often stop here in the winter during King Tides as the waves crashing on the rocks are impressive and waves huge.
